MOVIE: Rolling Thunder Revue by Martin Scorsese
I highly recommend this second documentary from the venerable Martin Scorsese if you are a Bob Dylan fan and have already seen his straightforward first homage, No Direction Home. This weird film blurs fact and fiction and is more of an odd art piece about celebrity, the 70s, and expression.
MUSIC: Good Thing by Leon Bridges
I know I’m late to the party when it comes to Leon Bridges but I’ve recently discovered his beautiful voice and moody Sam Cook vibe. I like to go in order when I’m introduced to an artist so his second album, Good Thing is what I am listening to now. Can’t wait to hear how this Texas R&B crooner has evolved.
STYLE: Interiors from Nancy Meyers and her set designer, Beth Rubino
I have a habit if I’ve had a stressful day: after I put the kids to bed, and my husband has fallen asleep next to me, I hop onto Pinterest and scroll through various interior set design photographs from Nancy Meyers movies.
The beautifully lit images calm me; they quiet my mind and induce coziness. I know I am not unique in this Nancy Meyers set design fandom either. My mother and sister share in this admittedly girly respite. Sometimes we’ll put on The Holiday or Somethings Got to Give just to have the exquisite rooms inspire our decor aspirations as we talk throughout the film. For us, It’s not about the story - it’s about the homes.
and Thrive mascara
My sister gave this awesome mascara as a birthday gift. It’s expensive but makes you feel like you have falsies on. It’s good for those date nights or days where you know you’ll have to pose for pictures. Love it!
FOOD: Hannah Taylor @lilyloutay
I don’t know how I stumbled onto home cook, Hannah Taylor but boy I am so glad I did! This southern momma is a delight! Funny, adorable, a good cook and surprisingly flirty. This video in particular had me in stitches; please go to her instagram comments section and you’ll see all the love she’s getting.
TV: Brooklyn 99 on Netflix
Again, I’m a late convert to this ridiculous TV show but I’m enjoying catching up. My husband had to beg me to watch this Andy Sandberg vehicle and for the longest time I called it “his show” but now I find myself giggling out loud over the madcap Brooklyn crew and their high jinks.
